Web Filter Solution ?

Postby Jason-Bourne » Thu Feb 04, 2010 11:26 pm

Guys, Need some help.

I have a network with 40 Computers, and a Win 2k3-R2 server. Server acts as a domain controller, but only 20 computers connect , and the rest is on a workgroup.

At the moment, I have configured all of them (all 40) 2 use the router as the default gateway in TCP/IP. DNS is retrieved manually (OpenDNS and DNSadvantage) So there are no restrictions on the internet. I need to filter out several websites, and restrict certain stuff like yahoo, MSN IMS. IS there an easy way to do this from one PC (The server or any other PC) ?

Thanks !

in addition to what systemx has said, you can install ISA server on the DC and use it as the gateway for the entire network. From there you can control what sites and allowed and not.

God ISA is a pain to use. I tried it with few companies it's not worth the trouble not sure MS improved it now but nightmare few years ago. if u want to go with that route get a hardware web filter.
