S Lanka election loser arrested
The defeated candidate in Sri Lanka's presidential election, Gen Sarath Fonseka, has been arrested, news reports have said.
Gen Fonseka was defeated by incumbent Mahinda Rajapaksa last month by six million votes to four million.
Gen Fonseka rejected the results and vowed to challenge them in court.
The government has been seeking legal advice to bring a court martial against the general on charges of plotting to overthrow the administration.

General Fonseka arrested
Former army Chief and opposition Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka and his media secretary Senaka de Silva were arrested by the military police a short while ago, opposition Member of Parliament Mano Ganeshan told Daily Mirror online.
Military spokesman Major Prasad Samarasingha confirmed that the General has been arrested from his Colombo office for committing military offences.
Meanwhile the memory chips of the cameras of the Daily Mirror photographer and an AFP journalist have also been confiscated by the military that have surrounded the Generals office.

General Sarath Fonseka who was arrested late this evening will be Court Marshalled for the military crimes he has committed, Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Lakshman Hullugala told state television a short while ago.
Fonseka has been accused of revealing military secrets and also plotting the assassination of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

This is the guy who vowed put MR, GR, BR, current army commander, several senior army officers, number of public servents, etc, etc in to Jail. He mentioned this in his every election rally.
BTW, my opinion is , this entire post war drama is really a unnecessary thing.
People like Mangala, Ravi Karunanayaka who dragged SF to politics must take the responsibility for this entire drama.
This is the guy who vowed put MR, GR, BR, current army commander, several senior army officers, number of public servents, etc, etc in to Jail. He mentioned this in his every election rally.
BTW, my opinion is , this entire post war drama is really a unnecessary thing.
